Minutes from a Town meeting on 6/1/2011.

LAPEL COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

President Herschel Hinkle called the meeting to order.

Members present: Nancy and Herschel Hinkle, Pam and Gary Shuck, Joyce and Ron Nunley, Carol and Jim Young, Lou and Neal Whisman, Linda Hormell, Barb White, Margo Sink, Connie Sears, Daniel Paull, Donna Lawther and special guest Paige Collins.

Gary Shuck made a motion to accept the minutes of the May 4, 2011 meeting as presented. Nancy Hinkle gave the second and the motion was unanimously approved.

Hershel Hinkle is going to find another location to hold our meetings. We appreciate Amy Hans letting us hold the meeting at her facility for the past several months.

Village Fair Update
All food booth spaces have been reserved along with 26 craft booth spaces. During the parade, the Food Pantry and Ford Street Church are going to be collecting non perishable food items for the Food Pantry.

Dr Stephen Wright has graciously accepted the offer to be the Grand Marshal of this year's parade. We would also like to acknowledge Lena Wyant, who will be 99 years old on July 4, 2011.

Jim Young presented a new design for the t-shirts this year. The shirts will be yellow haze with an outline of the State of Indiana on the front and Lapel, Indina printed in burgundy.

Donna Lawther will enlist members of the Police Department to provide security on Friday and Saturday night.

Neal Whisman made a motion to raise the price of the noodle dinner to $8 for adults, $5 for children (6 to 12) and 5 and under will be free. Linda gave the second and the motion was unanimously approved. Desserts will need to be delivered to the Lodge by 8:00pm on Friday evening. The time of the dinner will be 4:30pm until 7:30pm.

Main Street will be closed at 12:00pm on Friday afternoon. The food vendors can check in after 2:00pm and they will be allowed to set up as soon as the street is cleaned and ready for them. Craft vendors can check in 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Town Hall on Friday and 7:00am until 8:00am on Saturday morning.

Gary Shuck will check on getting some more trash stands made.

An additional port-a-john will be ordered to be placed at the north end of the fair area.

A quote for the concrete base for the Bulldog statue was presented. Kip Brunk will build the base, including materials, for $900. Lou Whisman made a motion to accept the bid. Barb White gave the second and the motion was unanimously approved. Jim Young will take care of having a plaque engraved to tbe placed on the base.

Margo Sink made a motion to have Neal Whisman install a spotlight on the statue. He will donate his time and the Association will buy the materials. Carol Young gave the second and the motion was unanimously approved.

The brass plaques on the street lights are starting to tarnish. Donna Lawther will talk to Bob Kowalski to see if he will have community service individuals polish them.

The next meeting will be June 29, 2011 at 7:00pm. Herschel Hinkle will contact the members as to the location of the meeting.
